About the Droitwich Spa Fairtrade Group

Our History

The Droitwich Fairtrade Group was founded in 2007; after a public meeting and then steering group had been convened, with support from the Droitwich Town Council and Wychavon District Council, along with a grant to help us get started. We worked to achieve the necessary criteria for Fairtrade Status as laid down by the Fairtrade Foundation, which included getting schools, other institutions, businesses and professional bodies to become backers of Fairtrade. Following recognition, the Town Council paid for Fairtrade Signs to be posted at roads into the town.

Who are we

An action group, 6/8 members including a town councillor, meet regularly four times a year, and we have supporters whom we can call on for help with our events.

New people are always welcome and if you would like to help us, then please feel free to contact us on the number below .

We have evolved a routine of events through the year to promote the idea of Fairtrade locally. These include stalls during Fairtrade Fortnight Feb/March including the Farmers market ,St. Richard's day , Salt festival , Women's World day of prayer .

Every Wednesday morning 10-12 there is a coffee morning at  Droitwich Methodist church where there is a permanent stall .

Other events may occur, during the year eg . W.I. promotions etc., and we are always looking for ways of expanding our committee and activities. We really need more committee members , so if you are passionate about Fairtrade please contact Emily on 01905 77364 for more information .
